Practice Update 15.11.20 - We have had 3 staff members test positive for COVID-19 over the last week. We would like to reassure all patients that these staff have had NO CONTACT with any patients of the practice.

Following risk assessment the practice has had a thorough deep clean over the weekend but, due to a number of both clinical and admin staff having to self isolate for the next two weeks, we will be operating a reduced service.

The practice will be open between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday between Monday 16.11.20 and Friday 04.12.20.

It may take a little longer than usual to answer phone calls with reduced staff but we still have GP's on site with limited appointments available. Please DO NOT attend the practice unless you have been asked to come in by a clinician or Receptionist and DO NOT ATTEND if you or anyone you live with have COVID Symptoms.

If you are struggling to get through to us by telephone, we ask that you call 111 for advice and assistance. In case of emergency, DIAL 999. Please help us with your understanding during this period.

Please see the 'Latest News' page for up to date information regarding Coronavirus.

Flu Vaccination Update - 25.11.20

We still have Flu Vaccinations available - if you have received a text message asking you to book an appointment for a Flu vaccination, please do this as soon as possible by telephoning the practice on 0116 2227272.

All patients aged 50 – 64 years will be eligible for a free flu vaccine this year but people in this age group won’t be vaccinated until 1 December. If you are within this age group, the practice will contact you to tell you how to book your appointment. There is no need to call the practice until then; please leave the phone lines free for other needs.

We are still vaccinating all patient's in at risk groups for Flu - this is to ensure that those who are most at risk are vaccinated first. If you are 50 to 64 and you are also in one of the other groups which is eligible for the flu vaccination, for example you have a health condition which puts you at risk from flu, you will have been invited already r and should not delay getting the jab.

Some people choose not to have the jab because they have been ill afterwards or know someone who has been poorly afterwards but any side effects for the flu jab are rare. Some patients may experience a mild temperature or aching muscles for a couple of days, whereas flu can be extremely serious – especially for the most vulnerable people we look after. If you are worried about this, please speak to your GP or practice nurse.

The flu vaccination offers an important health protection. Flu can lead to existing health conditions getting worse or the development of an illness such as bronchitis or pneumonia, or it could even be fatal. A vaccination helps protect the health of a pregnant mother and her child.

With immediate effect we are advising all patients of the following information if you are attending the surgery for a face to face appointment:

1. DO NOT attend if you or anyone in your household have the following symptoms:
       • A high temperature
       • A new, continuous cough
       • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
2. DO NOT attend if anybody in the household has received a positive swab or been in close contact with suspected case within the last 14 days
3. DO NOT attend if you have had any of the above symptoms in the last 10 days
4. DO NOT arrive too early for your appointment as we are limiting the number of people in our waiting room and you may be asked to wait outside
5. DO NOT bring anyone with you to your appointment as they will be asked to wait outside while you have your appointment
6. Go to the toilet before you leave home
7. Wear a mask during the entire visit (patients aged 11 years and over) - For guidance on how you make your own face covering, please click here. For guidance about children wearing a face covering, please click here

Practice current position - Seeing a GP

We would like to reassure patients that we are continuing to provide consultations with our clinical team.

As a practice we have appointments that are available to book in advance or on the day to help meet the urgency of your medical query.

To help with reducing the spread of infections please note that in the first instance we will offer you a telephone consultation. This will be with the most appropriate member of the team for your symptoms/query which could be a GP, Practice Nurse, Pharmacist or Physio.

Following this discussion, if the clinician feels that they need to see you face to face they will make arrangements for this be done via video consultation or ask you to attend the surgery

Suspension of Online Appointment Booking Services

Due to government and NHS guidelines relating to Coronovirus we are temporarily suspending all online direct booking of appointments via SystmOne. This will enable us to screen all appointments before booking, helping to keep you and our practice staff safe.

You can still request an appointment or request medication through our ONLINE CONSULTATION PORTAL above

If you already have an appointment with the surgery, this will now be done by telephone with a GP / PRACTICE NURSE RINGING YOU instead of you coming in to the surgery. Do NOT come into the surgery unless you have receive a call asking you to attend.

We appreciate that these changes maybe disappointing for patients, but as part of our contingency planning for Coronavirus we are trying to minimise the number of patients attending the practice as our priority is to keep patients and staff safe. We would like to thank you for your continued support and we appreciate your cooperation at this time

Thank you
